Get Moving on Your Research

Hello Fair Students,
Where are all your research topics? Are you reading? Have you narrowed your focus? Are you gathering sources? Are you organizing your information? Please keep up with the pace as you will find that time will pass too quickly and suddenly the paper is due!
Christine and I want to see your sources, so please bring articles & books in to show us as you find suitable information. In fact, we would like to see at least 2 sources by Friday (you should have no less than 3 and no more than 5 sources).

Finding Your Research Focus
Do some preliminary reading to check out different aspects of your topics. You may find discussions on areas that you hadn't thought about. Also, you will definitely get more ideas and gather more terminology related to your topic.
After you have finished, please post your proposed topic and 5 questions you would like to explore related to your topic. Visit other blogs from the class and suggest other questions for your classmates related to their topics.
We look forward to reading ☺

I think Fair Trade is a very important issue for people around the world. The growers should earn the larger portion of the profits for their goods, but unfortunately it is businessmen who make the profit! The is definitely unfair!
My question is - why is Fair Trade coffee just as expensive as the coffee that passes through the hands of many middlemen who all, in turn, earn money on the exchange? In my view, there are 2 groups suffering from the coffee trade - the farmers and the consumers.
Fair trade should be about paying the grower a fair price and not over-charging the consumer!

For your first blogging assignment, I want you to watch the video 'The Story of Stuff'. Here in North America, we are obsessed with stuff (perhaps your country is the same?). This video is designed to give us a perspective on consumerism and to educate us on where all that 'stuff' comes from, and what happens to all that 'stuff' when we are finished with it.
Paste the following web address in your internet browser and enjoy!

After you have watched, share your reaction by posting a comment to our blog.

Welcome Students!
Hello Class,
Welcome to our blog group. Over the next 10 weeks, you will use this space to become a community of writers who share and discuss ideas. Please check your blog each Thursday after 6:00p.m. to see what text or video has been posted for you.
For each post, you will read/watch and respond by Friday at midnight (11:59p.m.). Then you will have until Sunday at midnight (11:59p.m.) to read and respond to 2 other students from the class. Please make sure to choose different students each week.
We are looking for thoughtful reactions to the topics. Use your critical perspective to reflect on the information and engage with your classmates and teachers.
All response posts must be submitted by Sunday evening at midnight each week (unless you are otherwise notified). Late posts will be subject to lost marks!
Happy Blogging☺
